Sheryl Underwood is a American comedian, TV host and performer famous for hosting the daytime talk show The Talk. Sheryl Underwood was a native of Arkansas and raised within Little Rock, Atwater and Atwater. Sheryl is part of a clan that has had a lot of problems. She spent most of her childhood taking care of her younger sister Frankie who suffered from Polio. She was in problems with her mother as she was growing up. Sheryl claims that in one instance her mother stabbed her father over the head because she was getting too close to her. Sheryl was drafted into the military upon her college graduation. The area of interest she was most interested in was comedy. She was the first woman to be a finalist in the competition Miller Lite Comedy Search held in 1989. Her TV career began in 1992 as a performer for the HBO comedy series Def Comedy Jam. Then in 2000 she starred as host of the television series Oh Drama! In 2011, she began being for The Talk as co-host. She also has portrayed fictional characters in shows such as Bulworth and Nikki, as well as Beauty Shop.
