Lee Roy Selmon has a background that is a combination of family scholarships football and volunteer work in the community. The first family is his youngest of the nine children born to Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. He played football with his three brothers from Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey was an All-Star for the whole 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the US. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won 2 national titles. Third scholarship he was named an National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in education. Lee Roy's fourth service included ten hours per week as a volunteer in the college. After college he settled in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers played an all-pro three times before beginning his business career. In 1988, he began working as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. He was employed by the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that In 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters throughout the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs in the time he played football at college. He was a captain in 1975. led the group. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the assistant director of sports. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made an appearance in the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame as well as the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
